About Yvan Baker

Yvan Baker has served as the Member of Parliament for Etobicoke Centre since 2019 and was our MPP from 2014-2018.

As our representative, Yvan has been focused on delivering results for Etobicoke Centre.

Yvan will continue to work with Prime Minister Mark Carney and our new government to make life more affordable, make housing more affordable, reduce crime, strengthen and grow our economy, protect Canada's sovereignty and our economy in a world of tariffs and economic coercion, strengthen health care, and more.

Yvan successfully advocated for the federal government to tie its health care funding to provinces to results for patients, and establish national standards for long-term care. He championed the tunnelling of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension, and secured $1.9B in federal funding to build it. He also secured $375,000 in funding to expand Montgomery’s Inn.

He is the Chair of the Standing Committee on Official Languages. He has also served on several parliamentary committees, including the Standing Committee on Finance, the Standing Committee on National Defence, and the the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development. Yvan is also Chair of the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Prior to being elected, Yvan ran his own consulting business and was a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group in Toronto and New York. He has consulted to Fortune 500 companies in a range of sectors including financial services, retail, energy, and telecommunications.

Previously Yvan was also an instructor at the MBA program at the Schulich School of Business at York University.

He is fluent in English, French and Ukrainian.

Yvan was born, raised and lives with his fiancée Amanda in Etobicoke.
