About Yvan Baker
Yvan has served as the Member of Parliament for Etobicoke Centre since 2019 and as the MPP from 2014-2018.
Yvan’s focus has been on delivering results for Etobicoke Centre and for Canadians.
He continues to work with Prime Minister Mark Carney to protect Canada's sovereignty, grow our economy, make life and housing more affordable, reduce crime, reform immigration, and more.
With the support of the community, he successfully advocated for the tunnelling of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension, then secured $1.9 billion in federal funding to build it, saved Silver Creek School for children with special needs, helped to stop Pearson Airport from permanently diverting flights over Etobicoke and secured expansions of local hospitals and schools.
Nationally, Yvan successfully advocated for the federal government to establish national standards for long-term care and to tie health care funding to provinces to results for patients. He has been the leading advocate in parliament for Canada to support the Ukrainian people in their defence against Russia’s invasion.
Yvan is the Chair of the Standing Committee on Official Languages. He has also served on the Standing Committees on Finance, National Defence, and Environment.
Prior to being elected, Yvan ran his own consulting business and was a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group in Toronto and New York. He has consulted to Fortune 500 companies in a range of sectors including financial services, retail, energy, and telecommunications.
Previously Yvan was also an instructor at the MBA program at the Schulich School of Business at York University.
Yvan was born, raised and lives with his fiancée Amanda in Etobicoke.
