I was proud to welcome Prime Minister Mark Carney to Etobicoke Centre today as he announced that we are cutting taxes and fees for new homes in Ontario by up to $200,000. This will accelerate housing construction and cut costs so that we can make housing more affordable.
Along with the Prime Minster, caucus colleagues, the Premier of Ontario, and the Mayor of Toronto, we announced that we are:
Removing the full 13% HST for new homes up to $1 million, saving buyers up to $130,000. Lowering development charges by up to 50% to help boost housing supply and accelerate construction.Thank you, Prime Minister, for coming to Etobicoke Centre to make this important announcement.
