Recognizing Community Recognition Award recipients Colleen Isherwood & Lorraine Pearsall

Every few days I am highlighting individuals who recently received my Community Recognition Award for their service to Etobicoke Centre. This week I would like to highlight the work of Colleen Isherwood & Lorraine Pearsall.


Colleen raised her family, worked, and found time to volunteer at Humber Valley United Church. She is also co-editor of the Humber Valley United Church newsletter, Connections.


She is a member of the 55+ Memoir Group and has written a novel (not yet published) and she co-wrote a history of the Humber Valley UCW.


She is the stage manager for Valley Voices, a new Etobicoke community choir of about 70 members. Valley Voices has sung in many local seniors’ residences.


She works hard, is dependable, very kind and very caring.


For over a decade Lorraine has used her decorator skills, her time and resources to enhance the life of Humber Valley United Church. She makes sure that the church hall is themed for the seasons and special days such as Easter and Christmas. She creates a warm environment for such events as the monthly Daytimers luncheons.


She is always on the lookout for props and has a large cupboard full of reusable items. The church always looks fresh because of her work.


She is an Active member of United Church Women and was awarded the Fred Van Vliet Award for innovation in 2019.
