Every few days I am highlighting individuals who recently received my Community Recognition Award for their service to Etobicoke Centre. This week I would like to highlight the work of IOUC Fourth Wave / МОУГ "Четверта Хвиля".

The Fourth Wave is an International Organization of Ukrainian Communities. Their members encourage and promote the development of culture and education among Canadians with Ukrainian ancestry.
Lyubov Slavatynska is the dedicated chair of the organization. She is also the Principal of the Saturday school. Her contributions as a teacher, community leader and compassionate individual are truly commendable.
Nadia Babyuk has been a member of Fourth Wave since its inception in 2004. She has implemented many successful projects and participated in numerous community events. She is a wonderful, selfless and faithful volunteer to the Ukrainian community.

Olha Lishchynska has been a member of Fourth Wave since 2017. She participates in various Ukrainian community events such as Ukrainian Independence Day in Centennial Park and the Bloor West Festival. Olha has made a significant contribution to the photo exhibition project “The year of Resilience. Kyiv is the Unbreakable heart of Ukraine” which showcases world famous photographs that reflect the realities of the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Kateryna Ozerianska arrived in Canada in 2018 and joined Fourth Wave as a volunteer, then initiated and coordinated several projects and joined the board. Among several successful projects she has coordinated is Computers for Ukrainians in partnership with Siemens. Newcomers and Saturday schools have benefited from this initiative. Kateryna also kindly supports newcomers with counselling and translating.

Olena Polishuk arrived in Canada in 2011 and joined Fourth Wave in 2023. She too is involved with the photo exhibition and through her love of filmmaking she has become screenwriter and documentary filmmaker showing short films of Ukrainian resistance.
