I have been doing everything I can to make housing more affordable. To do this, we need to increase the supply of housing in Canada.

For this to happen, municipalities need to remove barriers to housing construction and speed up development approvals. We have provided incentives for the city of Toronto and other cities to do just that. Also, last year, our government removed the GST on construction of new rental apartment buildings. This will incentivize the building of more rental housing, increasing supply which is what we must do to lower rental costs for Canadians. We have already been seeing the positive impacts from this step.

These are two of many steps we have taken. I will continue to do all I can to ensure housing is more affordable.
