Standing in the House of Commons to speak about protecting Canadian's data privacy
February 1, 2024
January 22nd marked the start of data privacy week, an important time to discuss how we can strengthen privacy and security for Canadians. Findings from a recent survey by Interac revealed nearly eight in 10 Canadians believe their data is more exposed than ever, with six in 10 saying they lack the confidence to protect their personal information.

Our government is taking action here by moving forward with a framework for consumer driven banking. This framework will eliminate the need for the dangerous practice of “screen-scraping” where consumers are forced to share their banking credentials.

Not only will this give Canadians more control of their financial data, it will also keep them, and their data, safer.

Today, I stood in the House of Commons to speak about protecting Canadian's data privacy
